Healing meeting

It was wonderful to be part of the ‘Healing Explosion’ meeting with Che Ahn tonight. Approx 250 of us gathered to worship and seek the Lord for healing breakthrough. There were some beautiful testimonies of how God was working in our time together with people being healed of various conditions such as a frozen shoulder or partial blindness. God is on the move!

There seemed to be a real hunger for the presence of God too, really expressed in the worship. I sense that the British church is becoming hungry again for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Bring it on!

We’ve been really humbled by the way the Lord has used the song ‘Lord, there’s none like You’.  It was written out of one of our trips to the orphanage in Thailand run by CCD, who 4 Life work with, but we keep hearing encouraging stories of how other workers and charities have been using the song for their work in other countries too.

There is a fantastic charity called Ethiopia Education Aid who are using the song and particularly the chorus of the song ‘to save the lost and feed the hungry, clothe the naked, hold the lonely’ to help express the vision for their work in Ethiopia.  Take a look at their work here: http://ethiopiaeducationaid.org/

Creativity and the arts

I believe that when we worship a creative God we should receive from His creative streams as our hearts are open to His Spirit.  I often think that our sung worship times should inspire new ideas for the arts, music, business etc.  It wont always be that the music itself provides the inspiration, as you made have heard the song many times before, but the Holy Spirit is able to take a song and impact us more than we could imagine.

I would like to get to the point where more creativity flows within the worship.  I don’t just mean adding features such as poetry, although this can be very powerful, but I would love to see artists painting as we sing, responding to what they feel is happening in that moment.  This is just the beginning of the journey into the arts and I would love to hear your thoughts on this and hear from your experiences…

The beauty of Christ

When we gather to worship, one of the challenges for worship leaders can be to create an environment for people to see the beauty of Christ.  There are times in worship where it feels as though the room is filled with liquid love which gently washes over us as we press into Jesus, but these moments don’t always last long as our culture today can find it difficult to focus for a long time.  I believe that God is calling us to learn how to abide, remain and gaze at Christ.  For in this place we are able to find true meaning for life, and learn how to hear His voice for our lives and communities.  Psalm 36:7-9 gives us a vision of how the Lord wants to gather us into Himself.  It says, ‘They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house…for with You is the fountain of life…in Your light we see light.’

When you’re leading worship, keep seeking to bring people to a place where they, like the Psalmist, can drink their fill.  Only here will there be strength for the weary, healing for the sick and life for the broken ones.
